Just recently, Google launched a standalone Gemini AI app for IOS users. The Gemini AI app offers a dedicated interface and enhanced capabilities compared to the integration within the Google app. In March, there were rumors about Apple and Google’s discussion for AI integration in IOS.

Even earlier, users could access Gemini AI within the main Google app on iOS. Then you might ask why one needs another app. One of the reasons to go for this app is its support for Gemini Live, Google’s version of ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode. This allows users to engage in a more natural, conversational interaction with the AI assistant. And if we say conversational, we actually mean it, because you can interrupt this AI assistant and change your prompts on the go as well.

Gemini Live can be used for a variety of use cases, from brainstorming ideas to rehearsing for important moments.

“Go Live with Gemini to brainstorm ideas, simplify complex topics, and rehearse for important moments,” the app’s description states. “Just click on the Gemini Live button in your Gemini app.”

In addition to the Gemini Live functionality, it offers integration with other Google services and apps on the iPhone. Users can access YouTube, Google Maps, Gmail, and Calendar, making the user experience more productive.

This level of integration sets the Gemini app apart from other AI chatbots, including ChatGPT in Apple Intelligence.

It’s worth noting that the standalone Gemini app is not the only way to access the AI assistant on iOS. Users can still access Gemini through the main Google app, though the experience may be more limited compared to the dedicated app.

Gemini AI in the App Store

This new app is available for free download in the App Store and provides iPhone owners with direct access to Gemini, Google’s advanced conversational AI. For users who want to unlock additional capabilities, the Gemini app offers an optional Gemini Advanced subscription for £18.99 per month. This premium tier provides access to more advanced Gemini models, integration with Google apps like Gmail and Docs, and faster access to new features.

It also offers a one-month free plan for users to try this out.

Companies like Google, Apple, and others race to put their AI chatbots in front of users as often as possible.

The Google Gemini app for iPhone seems like a significant step forward in making advanced conversational AI more accessible and integrated into the daily lives of users. Soon ChatGPT will be integrated into iPhones, hence, Google tried to stay one step ahead by launching this app.

But is it a more feasible solution for the users? I don’t think so. Having so many apps could make one’s phone crowded. Google could add this feature to the Google app in IOS but it decided to provide a separate app. Now let’s see how it goes and if users really like this or not, we will know in the coming few weeks. What do you think about the Gemini AI standalone app?
